Day 10
In your own space, share your love for a trope, cliché, kink, motif, or theme. (Or a few!) Tell us what makes it work for you, and why it appeals to you so much. Talk about what you like to see in fanworks featuring that theme most. Feel free to include recs and examples!

I don't know if this actually qualifies as any of these, but some of my favorite things in fics include a) maintaining friendships (because I feel this way in RL about significant others and friends), b) when there is no bashing of the other half of a canon pair for the sake of the ship (like, Tony and Pepper can have a good break up, Pepper doesn't have to be written as a shrew just for Tony and Steve to be together) and c) when there is no friendship/character bashing either (I consider this separate from b mostly because of Teen Wolf fandom - too many anti-Scott fics mixed with Sterek).

Day 3

In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create.

Well, I'm going to start with, you can check out my tags and any tag with "recs" will send you to a page with recs based on a fandom, pairing, and/or type of rec. I'll say I haven't updated them since the exodus of LJ so I'm sure there are a lot of broken links, but, find a fandom you like and check them out!

But I'm also going to list three specific ones.

Since The X-Files has returned, I present the fic that is canon in my head and how the mytharc SHOULD have ended: Mesabi Ferrum

I've recently been re-obsessed with Sterek fics and can't stop reading them so here's a story I've more recently read and bookmarked: Electricity in the Contact

And finally, just because, the very first fic I bookmarked on AO3. Why yes, this is the perfect OT3 fic for an OT3 I shipped LONG before knowing what an OT3 was, aka Cosmo, Dan, and Kathy from Singin' in the Rain. The characterization is spot on: And Write That Symphony

Christmas:

1). Anyone who's a fan of Alex Krycek needs to check out the Alex Krycek 12 Days of Christmas calender thing. Lots of great new artwork! Plus some fics and recs.

2). A humorous romp in which John and Rodney Save Christmas over at

sga_santa. Too funny! Just the right kind of Christmas cheer I was looking for from SGA this year.

SGA:

1). A hilarious 5 Things fic in which Someone Finds Out About John and Rodney by

bluebrocade. I dare you NOT to laugh.

2). One Piece At A Time written for

sga_santa. It has a little bit of everything. Manly building, Athosian detective work, Sheppard and a fear of babies, genderswitch, clueless!Rodney, and a very sweet ending. What more could you want?

3). MGM has this cool little thing with videos where you can add your own messages to McKay's laptop/tablet, or Sheppard's ~~big screen TV~~ screen. It's fun.

Whee!! Birthday in 4 days!!

So, as many of you may have guessed, I will be leaving in a few days and for...8 days at least. In order to entertain myself beyond the Christmas going-ons, I would like you all to rec (links, please) me your favorite:

I'm looking for happy, angsty, whatever. I want to save them on my computer and read them over the break. And if you have one in each of these categories, by all means, link them all! And in the meantime, I'll be making bunches of icons and trying write two fics.

And in return, I offer you one of my favorite M/Ks. You don't need to know much about XF to enjoy it. This fic, the first time I read it, I bawled my eyes out (yeah grab your Kleenex if you cry at all) and immediately read it another two times. And just rereading it now--no less enjoyable. Beautiful sentiment, wonderful traditions and the most incredible description of snow I've ever read.

Ok, hi everyone. I am here to post a wonderful little fic by a good friend of mine, D Rainey. It's a Krycek/Scully fic, but I guarantee, it's damn hott for it being het. So I'd like to advise everyone who likes XF on my flist (and feel free to spread the love!) to rush over and read it, even if you're not a Krycek enthusiast. You will be rewarded, my friends.
