That amused me. Oh, how cruel am I!!
Whee!! Birthday in 4 days!!
So, as many of you may have guessed, I will be leaving in a few days and for...8 days at least. In order to entertain myself beyond the Christmas going-ons, I would like you all to rec (links, please) me your favorite:
a) MSR
b) M/K
c) SPN Wincest
d) a hidden Petrellicest I don't know about
I'm looking for happy, angsty, whatever. I want to save them on my computer and read them over the break. And if you have one in each of these categories, by all means, link them all! And in the meantime, I'll be making bunches of icons and trying write two fics.
And in return, I offer you one of my favorite M/Ks. You don't need to know much about XF to enjoy it. This fic, the first time I read it, I bawled my eyes out (yeah grab your Kleenex if you cry at all) and immediately read it another two times. And just rereading it now--no less enjoyable. Beautiful sentiment, wonderful traditions and the most incredible description of snow I've ever read.
In Heavenly Peace, by Torch
And I'll make one last pimp of the Advent Calender and if you click the 18th, you'll get to see my collage this year and then you can all come over and tell me just how fab it is. *puts on shades and flips up jacket collar*

These are my favorite stories out of all of the amazing/great/amazing/great stories at Fugues Fiction Archive. If you need help finding these stories there, ask :) But basically, I went down the list from top to bottom, so they're in visual chronology.
Anjou, "AQUINNAH"
A journey home for Mulder is one of discovery for Scully. Rated R for explicit sexual material. (68 K)
Anton, Rachel & Blaurosen, Laura, "DESIDERATUM"
Scully is kidnapped by a homicidal woman who wants Mulder for herself. Rated NC17. (599 K)
JrfPatton, "PRISON OF INNOCENTS"
Scully is found guilty of crimes she does not remember committing, and as Mulder works to exonerate her, she is stripped of her law enforcement status and serves time in a women's prison. There, she is exposed and eventually welcomed--and initiated--into a secret and dangerous community of hardened female criminals. Rated NC17. (553 K)
Khyber, "SOKOL"
text: part 1 (180 k) & part 2 (230 k)| complete PDF
A story about a boy and a girl, a girl and a spaceship, and how things end.
" 'There have been multiple corroborated reports of Elvis surfing near San Diego. I don't know if we could get a federal warrant, but..." She rolled over onto her back, her head still on his thigh. He felt her intake of breath, deep sudden inhale and exhale as her hands came up to cover her face. 'Oh, God, Scully...'
" 'Sorry, honey, my alien hybrid daughter from the first time I was abducted died in San Diego last Christmas. I don't know about San Diego.' He heard soft, bitter laughter rather than tears. It was terrifying and unfamiliar, yet fitting. "I just don't fucking know anymore.' " Rated NC17.
Mountainphile, "SEEDS OF SYNCHRONICITY"
The slash killer from AUBREY returns, as Mulder and Scully are dealing with the emotional anniversary of Emily's death. [and it won a ton of awards] Rated NC17. (544 K) To read each chapter separately, here.
Rambo, Dawson, E. , "ELS" (outside link)
Mulder returns to profiling after being suspended from the X-Files. Rated R for explicit sexual material and violence. [and it also won a ton of awards]
Selby, Jill, "PAPER SAINTS" (offsite link)
"'When they found Randall Harper, he'd been nailed to the ceiling by his testicles."' Rated PG13.
Bonetree, "SECRET WORLD"
Scully goes on a deep uncover assignment without Mulder to uncover a series of mysterious deaths linked to an international group. Rated NC17. (829 K)
Bonetree, "CITY OF LIGHT"
Sequel to "SECRET WORLD" (see above). Mulder and Scully on the run, while Skinner and Granger attempts to figure out how to get them reinstated into the FBI. Rated NC17. (902 K)
Bonetree, "MERCY SEAT"
Mulder and Scully investigate disturbing visions, self-propelling objects, natural phenomena, and apparitions, while they are being similarly haunted. Rated NC17. Sequel to "CITY OF LIGHT" (392 K)
Bonetree, "LOST LAND"
Sequel to "MERCY SEAT" (see above). Mulder and Scully investigate bombings directed at Scully in the US and Ireland. Rated R for mild sexual content. (751 K)
Bugs, "DARK SEED, A NOVEL" (off-site link)

Fialka, "ARIZONA HIGHWAYS"
Part I (378 K) & Part II (357 K)
Mulder and Scully are assigned a kidnapping case--only to discover that the child is one of several siblings of Emily. They meet up again with Detective Kresge in order to evade a network of men trying to kill everyone connected to the children. Meanwhile, Mulder & Scully discover their own roles in a national breeding plan. Rated R for some sexual content.
Amperage & Livengoo, "OKLAHOMA"
Pre XF. Mulder profiles a violent serial child killer by interpreting T.S. Eliot. (see "CRIMES INSPIRED BY T.S ELIOT")

Date: 2006-12-19 09:12 am (UTC)But you know, that TS Eliot one is so gonna be the first read.

Date: 2006-12-19 04:54 pm (UTC)"Oklahoma" (The T.S. Eliot one), I've read about two or three times. It's absolutely brutal, Mulder-profiler-torture. Well, kind of intellectual, mental torture. But I love it. It's so well written. And it ties in with The Waste Land and Prufrock pretty well.
My other absolutely FAVORITE is "Aquinnah." I've read that one about 5-10 times. And "ELS", I've read the ENTIRE thing about 2-3 times. And the three Wickedzoot fics...wow, I've reread those plenty times too.

Date: 2006-12-19 07:37 am (UTC)...amnesia. Mulder suffers a loss of 8 years of memory, including his experience on the X-Files and his partnership with Scully. Scully works with him to try to regain his memory, as well as to recover his functionality as the principle investigator in the X-Files. Rated R. (347 K)
Wickdzoot, "COMPLICATED SHADOWS" - part 1 (436 K)
Wickdzoot, "DIFFERENT LIGHT" - part 2 (209 K)
Wickdzoot, "DEUX EX MACHINA" - part 3 (100 K)
[I've read these stories so many times I'm embarrassed]
...severe depression. Mulder's journals on recovering emotionally and mentally from a three-year abduction, alien experimentation, sexual abuse, and Scully's death. Great, witty, Mulder characterization. Mulder/Skinner friendship, Mulder/other. Rated R for disturbing imagery.
Syntax6, "SPLIT THE LARK"
[and I'm also embarrassed by the number of times I've read this one]
Scully and Mulder deal with a traumatic event. Rated NC17. (387 K)
Reverly, "THE UNFINISHED UNIVERSE"
A beautiful, literary story of Mulder's return from abduction, to be reacquainted with Scully and William in a two-week journey from Oregon back to Virginia. Mulder adjusts to fatherhood & his changed relationship with Scully, while Scully muses about her prayers and personal anxieties. Together, they seek emotional and spiritual renewal. Rated PG13 for some sexual references. (100 KB)
Bugs, "WHEN I DREAM, I DREAM OF WHITE HORSES" (offsite link)
"Reality and rationality have been my touchstones all these years, in the face of so much that can't be easily explained. Now, in Africa, under this sun that burns away reason, confronted by the scratches on this object, they have slipped away from me like slick, moss-covered pebbles through my fingers. I think that's why I've begun to hear him. I needed his grounding. Probably out of loneliness more than anything else, I started talking to him in my thoughts. And one day, he answered." Scully's spell-binding account on her experiences in Africa, and her telepathic connection with Mulder.
Caldwell, Paige, "DREAM WITHIN A DREAM"
Is all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream? Rated R. (32.7 K)
Sabine, "HERO QUEST OF THE SCIENCE MESSIAH"
"In a bell-tolling moment of reckoning, two from alone perspectives - faith of faith, faith of science (blind alone faith of promised inevitability) - two in the moment met Truth. They met on demand. Circumstance, uninvited, invited the two to truth, together. Heads butting fury they rode in collision: she on foot of deskless body knew bodies, knew the magic method DNA equation of plausible, he, the wielding pursuer knew the unabashed, unembarrassed faith-truth of never-always, the shadow ghost of his own absolute possible. And he knew what he needed. Some value to attach to reason non-being, some credible eyes (what incredible eyes!) of lens to mirror." Rated R. (25 K)

Date: 2006-12-19 07:37 am (UTC)POST COLONIZATION:
Alloway, "ALL THE MULDERS"
"In another age, another place, it would have been a hell of an opening line.
'Three aliens, a Mulder, and a Cancerman walk into a bar...' In these post-Project days, of course, it's just straightforward narrative." Rated R. (9 K)
Analise, "A THIN VENEER" (outside link)
Mulder and Scully deal with homicide in post-colonization wilderness. Rated NC17 for some sexual content and violence.
Avalon, "LIGHT THE CANDLE, JOHN"
Rated PG. Character death. (16 K)
Ga, "404" (offsite link)
"Scully had never believed in the Y2K bug, nuclear annihilation, or alien colonization; in her reading of Revelations, Armaggeddon could happen, but not in this lifetime. Like the good urban dweller she was, she thought there was no catastrophe great enough to halt the inexorable tide of Chinese-food delivery."
MD1016, "JOURNAL 1999"
"After all that we have had to endure these last few months, I now look back on the mundane -- the trips to the dry cleaners, endless piles of paperwork, buying a carton of milk -- with a relish that only the aged and infirm have understood. Now, of course, we all understand." -Dana Katherine Scully journal entry, December 31, 1999. Rated NC17. (199 K)
MD1016, "JOURNAL 2000"
sequel to "JOURNAL 1999". Rated NC17. (433 K)
Sewell-Jennings, Annie, "GLASS LANDSCAPE"
Scully must fend for herself, while Mulder attempts to telepathically search for Scully. Rated NC17. (174 K)
Slippin' Mickeys, "TUEBOR"
25 years in one night. Mulder & Scully awaken to the future. Rated R. (147 K)
Stoy, Jennifer, "DRIVE, HE SAID"
"To the end of the world to the back of beyond beyond the edge of reality where am I going and why doesn't the radio work? Drive, he said. The last words I heard out of his mouth.
I'm driving. But there is nowhere left to go. Each gas station I stop at is empty and I leave a payment at the pump but no attendant will ever pick it up, and I've taken to stealing the leftover Snickers and Ho-Ho's and Diet Cokes because no one else will ever eat them." Rated PG. (22 K)
various authors, "LIFE DURING WARTIME" (offsite link)
A series written by multiple authors, from multiple perspectives. Mulder and Scully meet up with the Lone Gunmen during mid-colonization, just in time for the winter. But are they safe even there? R for violence.

Date: 2006-12-19 12:42 pm (UTC)I can pimp my own stories, but I (hope) you've read some.
However, I can offer one story (series) that has both MSR and M/K (it's NOT a Sc/M/K story), just Mulder is really...put in jeopardy whom to choose. And chose he MUST. This series has one of my most fav Krycek, Mulder AND Scully, who is tough as nails and the parts where she duels with Krycek for Mulder are...just cool.
So, the author is Jennifer Oksana, here is the link to her XF section. http://jennyo.imjustsayin.net/xfiles.html
Scroll down to The Choirgirl Set
Then she also has lots of MSr too, but IMHO her Choirgils is just...fantastic. And the ending...I won't spoil you.

Date: 2006-12-19 06:35 pm (UTC)Book One Summary: Skinner meets up with an old nemesis and discovers that being kidnapped can be both informative and restful.
Book Two Summary: Skinner and Krycek are threatened by unbridled domesticity until Fox Mulder rescues them from all that peace and quiet.
Book Three doesn't have a summary but just continues where two left off.
The story can be found here:

I have no idea what MSR stands for. And that story you rec'd was really sad. And you are right about the description of snow.
Enjoy the vacation!

Date: 2006-12-20 01:17 am (UTC)Ahhh, Mulder/Scully. No wonder I didn't know what MSR was. I don't think I have read any of those ever. There is simply too much good slash that I never have time to find any good het.
