So at first, I was all COULSON, I BET HE'S FANBOYING STEVE RIGHT HERE. And then I looked closer and I can't even squee over Coulson and Steve in the same shot (which isn't as good as Coulson and Clint, anyway, but that's another topic) because all I can think now is STEVE, WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?!

I am not a convert BECAUSE I ONLY SAW THOR AND PART OF IRON MAN 1. I don't know who any of these people are or who they're supposed to love or who is looking at who with heterosexual eyes.

I did see the new trailer today though, with Loki rocking the mullet like there's no tomorrow. I cheered for him throughout all of Thor because I kinda wanted the bad guy to win. I sorta want him to win in the new one too.

I think my lack of interest has a lot to do with the fact that there is so much history and comic issues and ~things I need to know~ and I just...meh. I never liked superhero comics (as we've discussed) and with the Avengers there is lots going on. You can't appreciate shit without having some knowledge of the comics (or having seen the other movies I guess).

And why does it look like they're standing in the Millennium Falcon in that photo?

Anyway! You don't have to wait too much longer for homoerotic subtext I suppose. Summer movie season is soon!

I think actually coming into the Avengers you could appreciate it without comic or movie background. I mean, I don't know for sure, but it's Joss Whedon. He's a master of introducing massive, established casts for new audiences (see: Serenity).

As for Loki, well, of course he won't win but he's apparently much more of a badass in this movie, so there's that. :D

30 DAYS LEFT. I don't know how I'm going to handle it. Particularly since the UK gets it April 26th and I have to wait at LEAST 7 days after, maybe 8. But basically, I'm going to see it like, 5 times in theatres.lol I mean, I saw X-Men 3 times...

Hmm, well, I had watched all of Firefly before Serenity though. But true, Joss.

Your excitement reminds me of how I was before the first X-Files movie was coming out. Man, I had a calendar I was counting down on, and it was the only movie I ever saw on opening night. I normally go to the big films after the craziness dies down. I did see Lord of the Rings Return of the King in a special midnight showing on the Thursday before it opened, so I guess that counts too. Both those films were mostly because I COULD NOT WAIT.

It's been a long time since I felt that about a movie. The second XF movie I saw on opening night too, but it mocked me and pretended it was X-Files when it was really two weird people on screen with some shitty plot.

I saw Serenity before I watched Firefly. Or rather, I'd seen the one or two eps FOX had aired before they started fucking around with nights and then years later Serenity came out. Then I went back and watched the whole series and then Serenity again. So, for me at least, Serenity had things I got more once I watched Firefly, but for the plot and characters, I still got what it was about without seeing the show before. So I trust Joss.

Heh. I've been doing midnight showings in the last few years. I started with HP3, and continued with those, the first two Narnia flicks, Watchmen, Star Trek...it's old habit now if it's a movie I'm truly interested in. But, I haven't been this excited since Star Trek. Even that one I didn't count days down on! Yup. Obsessed. AND LOVING IT.
