i can fly! at least, i think i can

Various and sundry recs for my lovely flist.

First off, I was watching Window of Opportunity earlier today, which I totally LOVED and one of the things that caught my eye was

Now this highly amused me because it's one of those things Chris Carter always did, implanting names and people's birthdates into the show. Only Joe is much more obvious about. Because Mr. Mallozzi is a writer and producer of the show. Very funny. Now to keep this in theme, I recommend to any Stargate fan out there not reading Joseph Mallozzi's blog to do so. And even if you're not a SG fan, the man is just hilarious. He is a breath of fresh air to this wank-hating fangirl. Plus, he explores all his culinary excursions and while I'd never eat over half of it, it's fun to read.

And now, some crossover recs.

Rollin' by tzi and zaganthi SPN/SGA Dude, it's McKay/Dean. Who'd a thunk, right? But these authors do it very well. It's nice to see a) Dean not being completely stupid in a fic (even if he does act like a two-year-old most of the time on the show *g*) and b) McKay being excited about something beyond astrophysics and Lt Colonel Carter. Seriously, trust me. Great read.

Summer House by rageprufrock Eureka/SGA McShep Ok, ok, I don't think many of you actually watch Eureka (I haven't but I may start because the previews did always look good--once I get through the 6 1/2 seasons left of SG-1), but all you need to know is Eureka's a town made for genius scientists who tend to blow things up and the main protaganist is the sheriff of the town. Sheppard's recuperating and so he and McKay move to Eureka and much hilariousness ensues. Sheppard's hit on by everyone, but no one except Jack's (the sheriff) daughter is willing to go near him. VERY funny.

The Truth Is Out There, And So Are Those Life-Sucking Green Things by strangefrontier SGA in the XF world. McShep So, we've all read the shows transfered into the Pilot ep of The X-Files. But this, IMO is by far the best. The author keeps the integrity of the actual SGA characters but they still fit in the XF world. Instead of X-Files, we have the Stargate Files, and astrophysics vs forensic science. It works perfect. And who can resist Ronon Dex (giant, dreadlocked man) as the Joint Smoking Man??

The Challenge by senor_coconut_1 SPN/Heroes Kripke/Kring Ok, you look at that pairing and wonder, WTF? This fic is for the brother lovers out there of these two fandoms...and the incest haters. Because seriously, total CRACK. And perfect. Kripke and Kring have a challenge going on as to which brothers can show the most, ahem, affection, leaving the actors to wonder what the hell they're doing. Did I mention this is hilarious?
