Title: the inevitability of a cold war
Mixer: MF Luder
Fandom: X-Men: First Class
Pairing: Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr
Size: 80 MB, 13 songs
Mixer's Note: This is the second of the mixes, companion to The War At Home. Unlike the first which was about the evolution of Charles and Erik as two people, this is the story of how Erik and Charles became Magneto and Professor X. But as we saw in XMFC, they don't evolve into these roles separately. Their mutant personas are in part response to their past, but also in response to each other and their desperate attempts to make the other understand. Thus, this is about that evolution; Charles and Erik together, becoming Professor X and Magneto. It's about their war, with themselves, each other, and what humanity has helped make them to be.

Title: The War At Home
Mixer: MF Luder
Fandom: X-Men: First Class
Pairing: Charles Xavier/Erik Lehnsherr
Size: 94 MB, 15 songs
Mixer's Note: This is the first of two mixes that I crafted over the summer and only just found time to finish the "art" for. The two mixes are complimentary, though it's not obligatory to listen to both. The second can be found here. This mix outlines the evolution of Charles and Erik as friends, as a couple. It begins when Charles recuses Erik from the sea (himself), when Erik discovers he isn't alone, but is still wary. It's Charles and Erik falling in love, then slowly recognizing that their beliefs are an obstacle. Both are ridiculously stubborn regarding how they view humanity, how they view mutants, and how they view each other; each suffers from confirmation bias ("You think they're all like Moira." "You think they're all like Shaw."). As Zach Stentz recently said on his twitter, Charles' goal is to save Erik's soul. What stands in his way? Erik doesn't want to be saved; he doesn't need to be saved. And so they come to realize things can't be happy, they can't be mom and dad and 50 mutant children in the Xavier Mansion because of these different world views that neither is willing to change. But they still love each other, they will continue to be there for the other if ever he needs him. And that's what's so beautiful about their relationship, to me. I just hope the songs show that well enough.

So, this has actually been made, music-wise, for near two years. I've just never had time or the creativity to make the art. I'd been planning on finding someone with actual talent to make the cover art, but alas. Hopefully, it's ok. So I have for your pleasure, 14 songs totaling an hour. Enjoy!!

The Whole of the Moon )

A long time ago (last summer), I wrote a little (big) fic called Proof. And the whole four-five days I spent furiously typing, I pretty much listened to a few songs on repeat. At the time I thought of just sharing those two/three songs, but I decided not to. But I've had a change of heart and thus I present you with a (short) cd mix designed purposely to go with the fic.

Think of the first four songs as the "score", while the remaining songs are the "soundtrack".

To truly understand both the title of the mix and song number 8, it's necessary to have read the fic. You can find it here: Proof. It is Madison (Miller)/OMC, pre-slash McShep.

And so I present you with my first fandom mix...
