He's Not Kinky, He's Your Governor by phaballa (AU)

This is an AU in which none of the CW crew are actors (except when Jensen went to LA for six months before coming back) and live your average 20's something kind of lives. Jared's into politics, Jensen's a dishwasher, and Chad's crashing at their house.

One thing I enjoy about this fic is the author's prose style. It's very conversational and while sometimes that results in bad!fic, this author pulls it off incredibly well. Brilliantly, the voice narration changes depending on what's happening, so if the boys are high, you feel high. If they're drunk...you get the picture.

As well, the snappy dialogue is great, Chad's obnoxiousness is hilarious, and even though it's kind of romantic, it feels so much more realistic.

Put that Thing Back Where It Came From (or so help me) by vorpalblades (AU)

Alright, Monster's Inc. may not be my favorite Disney movie ever...but it is my second favorite. So when I saw this the first time around, of course I loved it.

The author has a great sense of humor and weaves the story so well. The one-sided conversation snippets are always spot on (especially Chad. Oh, Chad.), the way the friendship builds between Jared and Jensen is sweet and unique, and the author's prose makes for an easy read. I also enjoy the strangeness of Jared developing a crush on something he believes is a monster; unusual and a little kinky, but it's good at capturing the fact that it's personalities that matter, not what you look like.

It's adorable, but not disgustingly sappy. I mean, seriously; who can resist Jensen as the monster under the bed?

Slow Sunday by mikhale

This is a lovely fic that explores quieter moments with the boys. There's cooking, Scrabble, and Jensen taking care of Harley and Sadie. Sweet, but not saccharine.

Sugar, We're Going Down by strippedpink

Your typical "someone spilled the beans" story wherein the boys break up, one gets jealous, and then they end up back together by the end. But this story is funny, hot, and features some great Michael Rosenbaum and CMM appearances. I love this fic almost solely for the author's Chad because he's a douchebag...but he's a caring douchebag.

I've Got Legs. Do You Like Bread? by queenklu (Misha Collins and Michael Rosenbaum) (AU)

Thanks to this author, I discovered a renewed love for RPS...of the strangest kind. I can't really get into the Misha/Jensen or Misha/Jared fics for some reason (because I like J2 together? because no one ever addresses #1 in the fics I read? IDK.). But the author's writing and characterization really got me excited for this pairing: Misha and Michael Rosenbaum. That's right, Rosenbaum of Smallville. Yeah, plays Lex Luthor? Michael is such a dork in RL that he seems a perfect match for Misha. This fic is kid!Mike and kid!Misha and it's totally PG and utterly ADORKABLE. THEY'RE BESTIES. It's an RPS AU. (Jensen and Jared are girls. Brilliant!) Seriously, even if you're not a RPSer (as in you don't like the idea of two real people kissing who aren't together) it's adorable. GO READ.

The Baum is the Key (and the Rosen) by queenklu (Misha Collins/Michael Rosenbaum)

Pure, unadulterated RPS/SPN CRACK. But it's brilliant. Really good crack is hard to pull off, but this author can make you WTF, spit Coke through your nose, and go awww all within sentences of each other. The characterization! Like, I don't care if it's nothing like Misha or Michael in RL. It's written so well, so fully-fleshed out, you absolutely believe it's really Misha and Mike. It helps that the author uses real Misha tweets. Because he actually is that cray-cray. Also, Misha babysits. And Tom Welling plagues everyone at CW parties with the PheTomenon.

A Quotable Thing by queenklu (Misha/Michael Rosenbaum) (AU)

It's an AU, but the actors as we know them (as they present themselves to us) are still there. The author takes their characterization to whole new levels, though. Mike comes to understand Misha's unique way of speaking while Misha learns and flourishes while dating Mike. Misha's story will break your heart, but the author puts it back together by the end. It's a beautifully written fic and a beautiful, poignant story that also doesn't lack for humor.

Plus, the amount of effort the author went through to get all those perfectly suited quotes to each situation when writing this? They deserve an award just for executing that!

Meeting You Again for the First Time by scintilla10 (Misha/Mike, Jared/Jensen) (AU)

This is a bookstore!AU where the CW crew either work there or know the employees and they're all a little strange. Mike and Misha can't stand each other and their friends are getting a bit sick of it. Misha's a jerk and Mike's kind of snotty and no one really knows why. When it's revealed why, my heart broke a little, because I think a lot of us can relate to Misha's pain.

It's cute, funny, has conversations revolving around zombies and kraken, and hot sex. It captures the silliness of both Mike and Misha well (for example, one has a couch with a superiority complex and the other an arrogant recliner). A great feel-good fic.

Look at us we're beautiful by zelda_zee (Misha Collins/Adam Lambert)

Not cracky at all, though the pairing may somehow make it seem so. But the situation is plausible (we all know Misha has been to Burning Man) and the way the author writes Misha is fascinating. The story itself is smoking (heh, pun not intended) and incredibly sexy. PWP, but we all love a little porn, right? The image of the two of them together...they'd be gorgeous.

Don't Call Your Boyfriend By His Name by 13chapters (Jensen/Misha/Vicki)

This fic was my first Jensen/Misha and it still remains one of my favorites because the author includes Vicki without suggesting anything we don't already know from Misha and Vicki's own mouths. It's a great way to imagine Misha and Jensen actually starting a relationship and it's nice to see a fic where Jensen is chasing Misha. It's short, sweet, and wonderfully hot.

The Space Between by kaylbunny (Misha/Alona, Alona/Vicki/Misha, Alona/Jensen/Misha, mention of Misha/Traci)

I love everything about this fic. It's absolutely unique. Where else have you seen Misha/Alona? Where else have you seen such a take on Alona as a character? The cadence to this fic is gorgeous. Plus, there's some lovely use of Misha's wife, and threesomes galore. It's short, but captures so much, and is brilliantly sexy.

Under His Skin by cjmarlowe (AU)

Well, let's just start off with the fact that it's a college!AU. There's nothing I love more than a good college!AU (besides a really good high school!AU). Secondly, Misha as a professor? Who does yoga, recites filthy poetry, and once wore a skirt to school? Umm, yes, please!

What I really enjoy about this fic, though, is the characterization and the dialogue. The story itself is smart and witty and flows extremely well. And I love seeing a Jensen who isn't a primadonna or jaded by the acting scene, but is talented and smart, even if he's a little awkward with people. The way the author writes the two very different personalities and tastes of Jensen and Misha together is insightful and fun.

A Definite Lack of Subtley by calathea (Jensen/Misha/Vicki)

A fic in which Vicki takes control over Misha's crush on Jensen and sets about mutually embarrassing her husband and his costar all while doing the proper cajoling to get Jensen to come over for sexdinner. And Jared pouts. Basically, I LOVE this author's Vicki. Frank, adorable, and confident, Misha and Jensen are merely along for the ride.

Decile by babyofthegroup (Jensen Ackles/Jeffrey Dean Morgan)

The ending is a bit dated, but for a piece so short, it packs a lot of UNF. Jeff is sexy and pushy, Jensen pushes back. The style is flirty and the fic funny.
