mf_luder_xf: (Steve x Tony)

Someone posted a brief rundown of the end credits scene of Ant-Man. Admittedly, I haven't seen it, I can't entirely place it in its context, but I am so fucking pissed. Scene description/dialogue and why I'm pissed below the cut.

As for the post-credits scene,“Captain America (Chris Evans) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) have located The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) to a remote location where The Winter Soldier is tied up.”Falcon asks Cap, “Should I call Stark?” He replied “No,” before Falcon says, “I know who to call,” referring to Ant-Man. Falcon appears in key scenes in the movie.

So, instead of turning to Tony, established hero, lots of money, helped save the world twice at least (with Cap in tow), Cap says we can't take Bucky to him? First of all WHY??? What magically happened that makes Cap distrust Tony on this. This is what I don't get about where Civil War is coming into play; the two have hardly interacted for there to be a riff. Hell, at the end of AOU, they seemed to part ways even better than before. Or at least understanding. So why is Cap against taking Bucky to Tony? I SEE NO MOTIVATION FOR THIS.

And issue two. Hank Pym is a HUGE part of Civil War. Now, I realize this Ant-Man isn't Hank but, Ant-Man is a huge part of CW. He, along with Tony, along with Reed, create the Thor clone which is hugely problematic given a) Thor didn't agree to be copied and b) clone goes off the wall and kills Giant Man (who is not, in this case, also Hank Pym).

Let's take a moment. Hank Pym, creates Ultron. Key part of clone!Thor creation. Where is Hank in MCU? *SHRUGS* Let's just make Tony to blame for all the shit Hank does in the comics! Because for some reason, even though we didn't care enough about Hank to put Hank in the movies, we care enough about Ant-Man, who hits his wife, to erase all the bad things he does and dump them on Tony's shoulders.

I will also clarify (for transparency sake) that CW!Hank Pym actually isn't real Hank Pym but a Skrull. Nonetheless, no one at the time of CW knows that.

Getting back to the end credits scene, what this does is place a key ally of Tony's in CW on Cap's "side". So not only does MCU dump all of Hank's bad plans on Tony, they then go and make the Hank Pym stand-in for MCU on the opposite side of Tony. Since it's damn hard to side against Cap's argument (especially over Bucky because Bucky is not a villain but a victim), this serves to place more onus and hate on Tony.

I will never understand MCU's logic on this. Iron Man was their first big hit. He was the basis for forming the Avengers. And yet, they insist now on making him an incompetent asshole. Tony Stark is arrogant, an alcoholic, and sometimes strangely naive, but he is a brilliant (7 PhDs, folks), self-sacrificing, caring asshole.

STOP BLAMING TONY STARK 5EVA.

They can't go to Tony because of some agreements he's signed. (Registration agreements, maybe?)

It was part of the credits scene in Ant-Man.

I don't even understand why they decided to use CW to begin with. I never cared for that comic. Yes, MCU Tony is flawed, but he would never agree to sign up with the government. This is the guy who wouldn't even let the military have his suits in IM2. He had to hatch a plot to give one to Rhodey since he was supposed to be dead or so he thought. Do you think maybe this is all a red herring and Tony and Steve have hatched a plot and are really working together? I like that idea a hell of a lot better than them making Tony the Big Bad.

That makes me wonder if Tony is going to have any support from anyone. He had help from Clint in Ultron, but I wouldn't think that would be the case in CW. I also wonder how big Clint's part is in CW. Jeremy didn't seem to be in GA very long filming. He was there and then suddenly he was up in Canada working on his movie with Amy Adams. And then suddenly he was back in CA. None of the filming seemed to last long, though when he was overseas filming Ultron he said on some talk show that he flew back and forth every weekend to see his kid. Maybe that's why the filming didn't seem very long. I also haven't heard where else CW was supposed to film. At least we won't have to wait very long to see what is up with that movie. It seemed like it took forever for Ultron to be released. We have less than 10 months until CW comes out. That is a quick turn around for a Marvel movie. I wonder if that is going to bode well for the quality.

They're still in Atlanta? That's interesting. I wonder if they're filming anywhere else. If they film primarily in one place this time, that would probably shorten the filming schedule or so I would think.
