My interpretation of the episode is that Neal is their only acceptable third. The conflict of the entire episode was someone moving in on El's territory, and yet Neal is participating in all of Peter and Elizabeth's conversations and, um, weddings as a married couple? POLYGAMY.
Also it did not go unnoticed that when Neal left their apartment for his date with Sara, Peter was all "where are you going?" and then looked all disappointed when he left. Idek with the subtext of this show anymore. Idek.
I'm just so happy that my show is back. I think I'm going to pretend those first few episodes didn't happen, but the preview for next week made me a little nervous.
