I don't watch Fringe, but that certainly is ironic when that recent article claims Fringe is better than The X-Files...

Well, the whole thing started off as JJ wanted to do the next X-Files. So he puts in a lot of shout-outs. And obviously, the ideas are similar. I didn't want to like it. But I loved it. I would highly recommend it.

Interesting that they're saying it's better though. Do you have a link? I want to know their reasonings. Both are witty and smart and gross at times (Fringe more than XF)...I don't see where it's better, though. It's got your usual convoluted JJ plot twists so it's not better than CC's.

I watched part of the first season and got very bored, very fast. It amazes me that anyone would think it was superior to TXF, especially before TXF jumped the shark. I read somewhere over the summer that there was going to be some sort of Mulder and Scully thing on Fringe this season and was kind of curious about what it would be--now I know. Hmmm.

Oh, I'm not bored at all. I love this show. The plotline is fascinating, the twists are interesting, the relationships awesome. Walter is hilarious in his crazy way. Peter...I really love how he's growing closer to this man he learned to despise as a kid, and how he's becoming a better person overall. And Olivia is slowly healing from the loss of the man she thought she knew and loved.

But no, I wouldn't say it's better than XF. But, I am completely biased. I don't think anything will ever be better than XF. Mainly because I don't think XF jumped shark at all. Certainly not for the reasons listed in the article above. They do always manage to make homage to XF (sorta like SPN but not so blatant), so this might not even be what that article was referring to unless it specifically said a clip would be shown.

I haven't read the article yet, but my major complaints about XF at the end were 1. Carter and his team couldn't even keep track of their own mytharc and 2. Why kill off Krycek. It didn't nothing to further the plot and was useless. It was weak, weak, weak there at the end. I think Robert Patrick did a good job with what they handed him. It was never his fault that David decided to leave. It still bothers me that he got treated like crap by a lot of the fans. I won't even talk about how bad Gillian was there at the end. I don't know if it was her or the writers or both, but there were some very ill conceived Scully scenes in the last two years.

Yeah, I get the Krycek bit. but if you hadn't liked him, it wouldn't have mattered. Lots os people didn't care he died. And the same for Gillian. You've never been Scully's biggest fan. I agree she got a little whiny, but I've never thought she was terrible (her or the writing). I wasn't entirely happy, but I've always been able to take my shows as given, even when I'm involved in the fandom aspect. I mean Kring KILLED off my favorite character since Mulder (not to mention all the OOC things Nathan did in S3), and yet I'm still watching.

I definitely give you the bit about Robert. I thought his role was great and he does get the short stick from fans. But then, I also liked Reyes, so...again, I kind of take things as given.

I gave up on Heroes in the first half of season 2. More of that shark jumping, imo. So Nathan never came back? I wasn't expecting him to stay dead. What's Adrian doing now? That sucks. I still keep hoping that they'll release Mysterious Ways on DVD.

On initial viewing I didn't hate Scully. That grew with time, hindsight and the last two seasons. Didn't I ever told you I started out life as a M/S shipper? :o

No, no, Nathan came back. And he's even on the program. Technically. But what happened in the S3 finale, Sylar killed him. But Angela has all these grand plans for Nathan AND Sylar, so, since Sylar can now shape shift into anyone, she has Matt Parkman (mind reading cop) put all of Nathan's memories into Sylar who then becomes Nathan. So Adrian's still on the show and I know he's going to act the HELL out of it because he's brilliant, but it's not MY Nathan. And considering how Claire's blood can bring people back to life and such, it's a total plot device. Adrian wanted something new, and quite frankly, I think he's preparing to leave the show. I will be surprised if he's a regular throughout this whole season and doesn't dwindle to flashbacks of some kind. Don't get me wrong, I like Sylar and I love ZQ, but...they fucked with Nathan.

I'm glad Adrian's still got a job, then. :-) You'd have loved him in Mysterious Ways. He really was fabulous in that.

Yep, I was a shipper in a past life. But, during an early rewatch, I started having a hard time with her. She was mean to Mulder, treated him like he was on a fool's errand. Hell, how many times did she have to go on a case and she still couldn't get it through her thick skull that not everything could be explained away with science. That didn't endear me to her and it got worse during the last couple of seasons. Who lets strangers in their apt. when her baby is asleep and wanted by the aliens and the gov't and god knows who?

I've watched all of Mysterious Ways. To be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with the show. I loved Adrian, yes. And Miranda. :-) But I wanted more about the main characters, less with the story? IDK. I mean, it wasn't even a big ensemble cast like SGA, and yet, I never felt satisfied with what they presented. XF managed to get the MOTW or alien story and reveal more of the characters each week, too.

Well, her opening her door in the last seasons...definitely plot devices. I sometimes get annoyed by the obvious things like that (and like Dean's amulet being a God EMF). But I realize they tend to come with the territory. For most shows.

And Mulder could never believe in the religious stuff, so frankly, they were both bull-headed.

I haven't seen Mysterious Ways since it first aired, so it may not stand up to time, a lot of shows don't.

I don't mind bullheaded and Mulder was definitely that, but it's not like he actually saw god, Scully saw the supernatural. At least that's my take.

LOL! I've had tons of stuff to watch. SPN, Fringe, Castle started last night...and then, you'll love this one...I've been watching Melrose Place. LOL And once it's dled, I'll be watching Heroes.

My TV schedule is very full. 'Cause on top of those I have NCIS and NCIS: LA, SGU, Dollhouse, Flash Forward I'm going to try, The Mentalist...probably some more I've forgotten.

I used to watch too much TV and now hardly anything good is on at least for me. I tried the Vampire Diaries and it sucked out loud. I did Melrose Place the first time around. Dawn needs to hire some new blood. All they can do is retred all stuff. So how is Melrose? I am a bit curious. I did like it on the first time around.

I'm going to rewatch Torchwood again this week and see if I can get a handle on Ianto's voice. He's going to be the hard one, I think.

I was like the only one uninterested form the get go of VD, I think. I like Twilight, but I've never been a big vampire person. And all the capitalization on Twilight...is annoying.

I like Melrose. Lots of people have called it boring, but it makes me think of The OC. I don't normally do nighttime soaps, but there's a few that get to me. Katie Cassidy is hilarious, bitchy, and smart. The clothes are so cute. The boys are incredibly gorgeous. While a few things are predictable and I can see getting annoyed with the constant relationship flux, it's my one and only non depressing TV show I have right now. So I will gladly take it.
