DUDE. How did I ever think SG1 was campy? Because it is nothing in comparison to Torchwood. OMG I DIED. It was hilarious and ridiculous and absolutely silly and I sort of love it for that.

Also, John Barrowman. He's hot, yes. But does he remind any of you fans of a certain big name actor? Scientologist, perhaps?

After watching that ep, all I really have to say is Captain Jack+Captain John=HOTT.

THE END.

Wait, one more thing. Captain Jack (which, why is he a captain? Where's his ship?) is sluttier than Kirk. I AM NOT KIDDING. Captain Jack>Kirk.

OMG--You did not compare John with That Man. There is no comparison.

How did you see the new ep. this soon? So not fair. I have to wait until it's on BBC America a week from Saturday. I want my show. *stamps feet*

You have a lot of catching-up to do. Captain Jack was on Dr. Who before he was on Torchwood.

Why he's a Captain is kind of complicated. His timeline is also a mess.

You have to get a hold of Anything Goes. The version with John as Billy is wonderful. I used to have the Patty LePone version and it doesn't hold a candle to the 2033 London cast recording.

I'm sitting here looking at the array of John pictures on my cork board and I don't see it. For one thing, John's actually a tall human unlike *cough* that other individual.

You could just watch the episodes that John was in. It definitely helps with Jack's timeline and history.

You'd love the Anything Goes. I got mine from Amazon Marketplace.

Ewww! No effin' way! Not in looks, voice, behavior or ANYTHING! Are you hallucinating? Do you have a fever? *feels forehead*
I don't see it. *shrugs*

Captain Jack+ANY other hot guy=hot.

And yes, the show is a bit camp, but in a good way. Alas, I will not be able to see any of the new season for another year. :(

He took the identity of an American RAF volunteer Captain Jack Harkness back in the 40's. And he actually did have a ship in the Doctor Who episodes in which he was introduced. To get a more complete picture of his background you really must see the DW eps that he was in, and prolly the first season of Torchwood as well.

Heh heh. Actually it's the FIRST thought that entered my mind when I watched TW for the first time. During first couple of eps I could not get rid of Mr TC looming behind CJ's back. But then he disappeared. Because CJ kisses men. And he's more charismatic than tight-assed TC. :)

I'm really hoping that Grey (who John said he found) is the son/baby Jack mentioned being pregnant with in the first episode of Torchwood. All the timelines could converge!

Yes, Jack has been pregnant :) Also, unless he was just joking on the last ep of Who, he's going to evolve into the Face of Boe, which means he's gonna be having LOTS more babies.

Jack's timeline is really messed up. He's from the future, he's lived in the past (many, many years), two world wars, took a dead guy's name (whom...I love Jack/Jack, but kissing him certainly didn't help save his life), and then there's all these "other" things that happened to him that we don't even know yet.

I thought Mpreg was only thought up by fandom.

Uhh, no? Male pregnancy has been in media for years. MPREG in TV canon has been on Alien Nation, Enterprise (which, sadly, is one of the reasons I doubt we'd get MPREG in SGA since Connor Trineer was the pregnant man:), Cosby Show even (though that was in a dream;) Rabbit Test, That Man Is Pregnant, A Pregnant Man, Enemy Mine (REALLY good movie!), etc are really good MPREG movies. He Woke Up Pregnant, Between the Sexes (I think that's what it's called...I have it upstairs), etc are MPREG novels. I wrote a thesis on Male Pregnancy in Modern Society in college. I really like the subject.

And what is this Face of Boe that means he will have more kids?

You really need to watch Doctor Who because that's a big theme (A BIG THEME) that runs through two years of canon, so...yeah, here's the wikipedia article, but you should see it in the canon of the show: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Face_of_boe

Did the name taking thing happen on Dr WHo or Torchwood.

Where he took Jack's name? That was on Torchwood (I'm not sure if the Doctor even knows that about Jack). It is seriously one of the most touching Torchwood eps ever. That dance, OMG that dance and that kiss and that love. OMG!

So he can't die and he bears children. This show is CRACK.

Actually, if my timelines are right, he got pregnant before Rose made him immortal on Dr Who because once he got thrown out of time, he was back in the 1800s and kept dying/coming back to life over and over and over again. However, he was in WWII before he was immortal (before Dr Who) because he already had the name when he met Rose and the Doctor. That last kiss between Jack and Rose and then Jack and the Doctor, that was really sweet. Yeah, you really need to see all of the new Who and all of Torchwood to begin to make sense of these timelines and still it's a mystery.

I discussed the practice of couvade and related the connection of sex/gender to parenthood roles through history while comparing against media that discussed MPREG through the years (Greek myths, stories, television, movies, etc)
