1). More Sex Talk

Frankly, I don't know what to think about this article. Jail seems too much, indeed. I don't think 13 year-olds having sex with each other (consensual) need to go to juvie. I think they need better sex ed. At the same time, there's always the issue of judgement and do-they-know-enough-for-it-to-be-consensual. Also, where does one make the age cut? 17 and fifteen, ok. 14 and 14, ok. But what about 17 and 13? You can't say no crime as long as both are under 18. But you can't say 2 years. Is there some kind of magic transition that happens if the kids are 12 and 14? What about 14 and 16? Kids are always going to have sex. Can we really jail them for that? Or should we simply do our best to teach them?

2). Marriage? Maybe. Living Together? No way.

These people are sheer geniuses. As long as kids know they're loved and see both parents, is it a crime? So it's a little unusual. So is two dads or two moms. So is being raised solely by Grandma. Unusual is normal and beautiful!!

6). Heroes and the WGA Strike

I keep trying to tell myself this is just TV. It's not my life and livelihood at stake, here. And yet, if this rumor is true? I will be very upset. The shows are rarely as good after the creator leaves. Just look at West Wing. In addition, it seems this season of Heroes will only last until Dec 11th.

That's what my mom and I thought the first time we saw Baal. I did a photo op with Cliff Simon yesterday at the Stargate NJ con. He is one hot dude! I don't think Kevin could compete with Cliff! The man is ripped.

Agreed! Mine too! Who was your first fav? I was in love with Brian. I actually dug out the "Everybody" song for Halloween. Remember the video when they are all dressed like monsters?

When I'm more awake I'll definitely post pics! We left PA at 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning to drive 3 hours to the con. Returned around 11:30 p.m. that night. I'm still feeling out of it. What day is it? LOL!

LOL That video always made me laugh. Oh, the days of music videos that told some story like Everybody and Larger Than Life and No Strings attached...course then they also had music videos that featured boys in silky shirts singing in the rain. Oh, MTV.

I never cared for Nick or A.J. That was one extreme to another. Nick was too baby-like and A.J. kinda scared me.

Re 2: I read that article. At least they recognize that they can't live together. Smart people, them. I thought that people with smartness didn't exist anymore. Hmm.

Re 5: That was on metafandom a few days ago and I thought that it was a pretty interesting deal. It was epescially interesting to me that most cest!fic are slash. I guess that I always knew that, but to see 'data'...

Re 6: NBC has been fucking with Kring for years. TPTB practically murdered Crossing Jordan in its last few seasons. I wouldn't blame him for leaving. But Heroes as a half season? They need the lead-in more desperately than they need the time slot, especially coming into Feb. sweeps. Bad move, NBC, bad move.

It is interesting. And I don't know if that's because the popular fandoms right now focus on brothers, or if its because the idea of nonequal (I would tend to see a brother and sister somehow not equal in such a situation--not that I'm saying my personal prejudice is in any sense correct) pairing is squickier when combined with the incest. Then again, I've read a few Sam as a girl and Dean born with a sister fics and liked them just as much. I really think for me it's the writing.

I didn't realize Kring was behind CJ. Sucky.

As for the half season, it's because they didn't have enough of the scripts written. I have to wonder just how Stargate Atlantis is so far ahead of schedule compared to most shows. SGA has all eps shot and are simply finishing post production on like the last two. Whereas Heroes and Supernatural, are only written 2-5 eps ahead. That's just crazy to me.

I agree with the brother/sister opinion. I think that that might be related to how all the D/s fics in fandom are slash, with the exception of maybe Gibbs/Abby. There's a thing about dealing the het dominance in fandom, it seems. That, or subtext lends itself to slashing D/s because it is outside the normal interaction. It is harder to D/s a het ship, I think, because there's already that natural hierarchy, even if it is just societal imposition which we choose not to acknowledge.

With TWW, AS was writing to keep current. That seems to be the norm now, maybe to see what the audience is reacting to and use their cues? I don't know much about SGA, but maybe the writers know what works and are comfortable with presenting the season?
