ext_2410: (Aha!)
You're right about Lucifer having his demon army...but Gabriel was stronger than Cas too and he's been gone from Heaven for far longer.

And both of them are archangels, so...Cas is never going to be as strong as them, even if he stays in heaven.

k, I'm confused. Death is Death in Revelations. What is Samael?

There are a number of Angels of Death in religious mythology. Gabriel, Azrael (Sariel), and Michael are all good angels of death. Samael, however, is the big bad. He is a destroyer and a seducer (and some myths cast him as tempting Eve, even impregnating her with Cain). He's even, in some stories, the husband Lilith took when she left Adam. He's basically on par with Satan and a fallen angel himself (except he's still part of the heavenly host, so he's playing both sides). You basically never want Samael to show up and he would definitely be the one that Lucifer would raise if given the choice. Death and destruction...between the two of them they'll kill us all.

Lucifer and Samael are sometimes mistaken for the same entity, but really they're not. (I fully expect that Kripke is going to combine the Horseman Death and the Angel of Death since they were both mentioned by Bobby and Lucifer as being the same entity)

Kripke has already twisted the angel hierarchy, making Lucifer the younger brother when actually he's the first angel, so he's changing the mythology as he goes ;)
